The first stop of this route, after having passed through a rural area of great interest, is at The Aegean Wildlife Hospital "Alkyoni" which was established in 1995. It is run by volunteers who treat and rehabilitate birds and other wild animals which have been injured (often deliberately), become exhausted during migration or have become ill and fortunately find their way into “Alkyoni’s” care. In a particularly configured room an informative video is shown. We continue cycling on an uphill road towards the wind generators, where the view is just breathtaking. From here you can see the northwestern coastline, one of the few pure virgin areas on the island, an amazing spot to take pictures with the lighthouse showing in the background and the steel cliffs rising from the crystal blue waters. Cycling southwestern after a very few kilometers lies St. John’s chapel. Here we meet a rare geological phenomenon where the ground is opened vertically by deep crevasses. After the uphill goes a downhill that takes us to Parikia. Here we can take a break before we head to the north again, through the road of Kamares, to get back to the gulf of Naousa, where you can enjoy yourself swimming of having lunch with no time limitations.
